School/University Partnerships in School Psychology

A Partnership Development Manual

Preface

The School Psychology Program at San Diego State University seeks to engage in mutually beneficial partnership arrangements with local schools and districts. These partnership programs are designed specifically to increase the quality of the preparation of SDSUís future school psychology graduates while at the same time facilitating services for children, teachers and support personnel, and/or for school communities at specific school sites.

The purpose of this manual is to provide guidelines, suggestions, and information about establishing these School/University Partnerships to interested district personnel, especially school psychologists, as well as to University faculty members developing such partnerships. Based on our initial two years of experience with on-site instruction which served both children and graduate students, we share and suggest methods of establishing a liaison between a selected public school site and San Diego State University School Psychology Program, and discuss the benefits and responsibilities of this partnership.
