| Criteria
for Grading Case Study Final Report |
Overall, clearly identifies the question(s) or issues(s) studied/investigated and the importance of the research perspective.
Research Purpose: 10 points
A general description of the goal of your case study. The narrative details your specific charge and seamlessly weaves what was investigated with the technique employed. The research purpose well aligns with the research method.
A summary of your literature review or a synthesis of several literature reviews (if you teamed with others). This section clearly lays out the theoretical background of this study: what has been done, what needs to be done, and how does it connect to the study you are doing.
Note any contextual factors—ggenerally constraints such as access to people or materials, time factors, or political issues—that influenced the design of your brief study, how your instrument was deployed/implemented/administered, or your analysis/interpretation of the results.
Describes your tool/protocol in some detail, including general format/organization, the structure of specific items or sections, how it was administered or used, and any pilot testing you conducted.
Present a coherent explanation of the data collected; analysis is organized thematically or topically. This section details two distinct processes: analysis and interpretation. The interpretation needs to articulate what you think the results mean. Also, point to more issues to explore or specific issues where extended study is warranted (certainly the case with the content analysis)
Tables, charts, and graphs are used properly to clarify the data -- or any complex points you're trying to make. Engage the reader with descriptive language; allow him or her to "see" the importance/value of what you've done.
Discussions/Conclusion: 10 points
This section will summarize the entire paper, restating the questions you investigated, methods, and your findings. Also, you may point out what needs to be further studied.
Specifically: the logicality of the paper’s organization (how easy or difficult it is to follow), use of headings and subheads, and transitions between and among themes/topics/ideas.
