Creating
Links to Other Sites Let's say you want your readers to go the WebQuest Page. It's easiest to do this with two windows open: Your web page open in Mozilla Composer and Mozilla Navigator open to the site you want to link to. |
| 1.
In Composer type the name of what you want the link to say.
In this example we will type Click here to go to the WebQuest page. Save your Composer file and open the Navigator window.
| 2.
In the Navigator window, select and copy the URL from
the top line.
NOTE: if you want to share a URL with someone else, this is the line you copy and then paste in the email to them. |
| 3. Return to your Composer window and select the text you want people to click on. |
| 4. Keep it selected and go up to the icon bar and click on the Insert link icon. |
| 5.
A new window will open.
Put your cursor in the URL box and paste the contents of your clipboard into the box. (You can also type the URL in but it's so easy to make an error I suggest pasting.) If you don't want the link to open up in a new window, then click OK go to Step 9.
6. If you want the page to open up in a new window, do steps 6 through 8 as well. First click on Advanced Edit.
7. Click
on the Attribute popup button and choose the target attribute. The _blank attribute
is selected by default.![]() |
8. Click on OK and the link is done.
| 9. At first the link will be selected. |
| 10.
Click anywhere else to deselect it.
You need to save the file and pull down the File menu and select Browse Page to check the link. Clicking the link should take you to the URL you previously typed in. |
