Creating
a Link to an Email Address |
Would you like to put a link on your home page such that people can click on your email address and go directly into their mail program and drop you a note? This guide will show you how. |
| 1. Type out your email account completely and correctly. |
| 2. Select the text, copy the text |
| 3. Pull down the Insert menu and select Link... |
| 4. Notice that the text you selected is displayed at the top of the screen and that the box with the space for the URL is emply. | ![]() |
| 5. Type in mailto: into the box. Note: no spaces, capital letters and remember the colon. | ![]() |
| 6. Paste the email address in the same box. | ![]() |
| 7. Click on the OK Button. |
| 8.
You will return to the Composer screen.
The text will still be selected, but it will look differently.
9. Clicking anywhere else will deselect the text. The color of the link will depend on how you set up your colors and background option.
| 10.
When you save the page and browse it when you
click on the link a little mail window will appear.
Be aware though that it is up to the software your readers use and how it is set up whether this link will be useful to them. If one is using the standalone version of Netscape, for example, as opposed to Netscape Communicator, clicking on a mail address won't do anything. For most people, though, it will work.
