eGame Design Project: CircuitBoard GameOverviewPerhaps you fell in love with the board game idea you've started to develop. Or maybe you've since been hit with a different idea that you'd like to carry forward. Either way, this egame option is for you. Board games are familiar, fun, and potentially powerful as teaching tools. The downside is the cost of production, the logistical nightmare of producing scores of question cards and putting boxed sets together, and the seriously hard task of updating cards based on new information. Can we use technology to overcome these limitations? Yes we can. The ChallengeCircuitBoard Games is a platform for quickly producing all the content that one would associate with a board game. Question cards, chance cards, ways to randomize the next move. It will provide a hosted environment and authoring tool for creating questions and storing them in a database. The game would be played face to face around a physical board which could be easily designed in PowerPoint and left for the user to print out. Players would depend on a smartphone or laptop nearby to provide the questions, penalties, etc. of the game. Putting the cards online means that they can be quickly modified. It also means that cards can go beyond mere words and include video snippets, audio, etc. Are you game? |
