Getting Started

The projects in this course involve both design and development, but the development options include both Web-based and print-based options to accomodate those with different technical aptitudes and aspirations.

Prerequisite Skills and Knowledge

You should have completed EDTEC 544, Instructional Design, before you take this course. We will assume familiarity with the design process, as we apply it to individualized instruction and informal learning.

For those interested in enhancing their Web-based skills, you'll want to develop your Individualized Instruction project using Adobe Flash and the Flash Learning Interactions, which come as template and library items in the application itself. You'll have opportunities to refresh your basic Flash skills and learn the Flash Learning Interactions during the first weeks of the project.

For those with low tolerance for the production side of our field, you may elect to develop your Individualized Instruction project as a print product, either in Microsoft Word or some other word processing or desktop publishing appllication. Print-based work should be clean and professionally presented. The level of technical skill required for this is modest, so you will be expected to arrange your own technical support, for the most part.
