Thank you, Dr. Valadez, for agreeing to talk to me today. How did you become involved in organizing this event for Cal State San Marcos?

Thank you, Robert, for having me come here today to speak to you about the World AIDS Day Observation at Cal State San Marcos. I began this process last year when I was elected Chair of the Academic Senate. I felt that I wanted to do more than just the usual business of running committees and attending senate functions. So, I decided that it would be a good thing to coordinate the World AIDS observance at Cal State San Marcos. It is my understanding that there has been no university-wide observance of this event in all of the history of Cal State San Marcos, which is interesting since AIDS has been a part of the scene since the early 80's.
