- What is BCLAD?
BCLAD is the Bilingual Cross-Cultural Language Academic Development (Spanish) teaching credential for Multiple and Single Subject Bilingual students interested in teaching in a bilingual elementary or secondary school classroom. - What is the difference between the Multiple and Single Subject teaching Credentials?
The Multiple Subject Teaching Credential authorizes teaching in the elementary school level (K-6). The Single Subject Teaching Credential authorizes teaching in the secondary schools (7-12) the specific subject(s) granted via CSET or coursework. - What is the minimum GPA for acceptance?
A 2.67 overall GPA or a 2.75 in the last 60 semester/90 quarter units of coursework is needed for both Multiple and Single Subject Bilingual Programs. Students who do not meet the required GPA admission criteria may submit a Petition for Special Consideration with their departmental application. - Where can I get information on the admission requirements and prerequisites for the Bilingual Teaching Credential Program (BCLAD)?

There are two applications required.
1) Apply to the CSU Graduate Division (SDSU) online at www.csumentor.edu
2) apply to the Policy Studies Department, BCLAD Program. Print application for the Multiple or Single Subject BCLAD Program from our BCLAD Program website (http://edweb.sdsu.edu/PLC/programs/policy_studies_BCLAD_cred.htm) - When do we apply to CSU Graduate Division?
The deadline for the Fall semester is May 1; deadline for Spring semester is November 1. - When do we apply to the BCLAD Program?
The target deadline for Fall semester is early March; the target deadline for the Spring semester is early October. - How long is the teaching credential Program?
Our full time program can be completed in two semester. You may complete the program on a part-time basis. Our advisor will work with the student to design the best program on a part-time basis. - When will I find out if I was accepted to the Program?
Once you have submitted a complete application, you will be called to participate in an entrance interview. You must have taken the Spanish Language & Cultural Awareness Proficiency exam to qualify for an entrance interview. Final acceptances will be issued early May for fall and early November for spring applicants. - Where do I get information on the Spanish Language Proficiency Exam?
