Bilingual Cross-Cultural Language and Academic Development (BCLAD) Certificate |
The BCLAD certificate is available to credentialed teachers interested in teaching in a bilingual elementary or secondary school classroom. The certificate authorizes the holder to teach in any self-contained bilingual or regular classroom. It authorizes the teacher to provide instruction in the primary language. Also, the BCLAD certificate authorizes teachers to teach in designated English Language Development (ELD) classrooms, and to provide specially designated content instruction in English. Candidates must be first admitted to SDSU and secondly to the BCLAD certificate program. If students are not currently enrolled at SDSU, candidates should apply for admission to SDSU within the official university filing periods. If students already hold a baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited college, and intending to enroll in the certificate courses or for admission into the certificate program, candidates should apply as "classified, credential only" BCLAD, Code 200 for Multiple Subject or Code 100 for single subject. CSU application are available from: This experimental certificate program meets California Commission on Teaching Credentialing CTC) competencies for the BCLAD (Spanish/English) Certificate through 12 units of coursework conducted in California and Mexico.
