The Workshop Process  

• Workshop members take time to read their colleagues’ abstracts. They should jot down line notes, questions, and/or feedback.

• The writer picks a paragraph to read aloud.

• The writer listens.

• Anyone can offer a suggestion, pose a question, note a strong area. Remember, warm and cool feedback should be balanced.

• Workshop members should become familiar with the rubric. Focus comments/questions on the quality of ideas, organization, voice, word choice, fluency, and conventions.

• Facilitator acts as note taker.
