Technology and Learning
Course with significant technology integration
All professors in the department use Blackboard technologies, to varying degrees. Blackboard is a computer based learning interface that enables you stay current with your classes, download course related content, and communicate with your professor and classmates through email or discussion boards.
Hybrid courses
A growing number of courses in the department use both traditional face to face teaching blended with aspects of distance learning. Often these classes are simply referred to as 'hybrids'. For example, in Special Education 500 you will have the opportunity to experience a live online classroom in which you can interact with your professor and other students. Half of your course time will be on campus, while the other can be from the comfort of your home. For this reason, sometimes these hybrids are called 'pajama' classes.
Smart Classrooms
All of the classrooms used by the Department of Special Education are equipped with overhead lcd projectors and fully integrated sound systems; presentations are easy to see and follow.
