Application for Admission to the
Master of Arts in Teaching Program
Applying to the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Program is a 4 step process.
Step 1. Take the Graduate Record Exam (GRE)
To register for the exam, please call Thomson Prometric Testing Service at 858-866-2120 or the SDSU Test Office at 619-594-0968. You can also go online at www.ets.org/register The exam is offered Monday-Saturday.
Step 2. Apply to the University
You may submit the CSU online application and $55 filing fee at http://www.csumentor.edu . When completing this application, major codes will be listed in the drop down menu under "Teaching", and not under "Education." Please choose one concentration from this menu. Your application will not be processed without the $55 fee and transcripts.
If you are currently enrolled as a graduate student (finishing a credential program, etc.), you are not required to reapply to the University. You will need to attach a Classified Graduate Standing form when submitting your MAT departmental application. All materials must be submitted to EBA 255 by April 30, 2008. Download this form here.
Step 3. Submit transcripts and test scores to the University
Provide one set of sealed official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended except for SDSU, including your credential coursework.
A copy of your official GRE scores
Please send them to: Enrollment Services, Graduate Admissions Document Processing Unit, SDSU, 5500 Campanile Drive, S.D. CA 92182-7416.
Step 4. Apply to the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Program
RETURN COMPLETED DEPARTMENT APPLICATION TO : Melanie Falkenberg, School of Teacher Education, EBA 255, SDSU, San Diego , CA 92182-1153 . You must include the following:
An application
A copy of your official GRE scores
One letter of recommendation (from those who are familiar with your academic and/or professional work)
A statement of application (2 pages maximum to include philosophy of education, three most important things you learned in your credential program, and why you are interested in the MAT program)
Application deadline for Fall 2008 is JUNE 16, 2008.
