Apply to the department

You must apply to both the university and the department to be admitted to a teacher preparation program. In addition to accessing the materials on this website, you may purchase an application packet at the SDSU Aztec Shops, located on the campus of SDSU. Submit your application to the School of Teacher Education office in EBA-255.

Apply to the University

Apply to University by the deadline (if you are not already a postbaccalaureate student.) If you have questions regarding the graduate admission process, visit the Graduate Admissions website.

Applying for prerequisite courses

If you wish to apply to the university to take the prerequisite courses, access the application link under Step 5.

GPA requirements:

Please specify that you wish to take prerequisites in this application under the Statement of Purpose section. If your application is accepted, you will be admitted as a conditionally classified student to complete the prerequisite courses. You will need to apply to the department for the subsequent term, but willl NOT need to reapply to the university as you will be considered a postbaccalaureate student. Transcripts

Applying to the university only:
If you have already attended SDSU, you do not need to resubmit transcripts unless you subsequently attended another institution since being enrolled at SDSU. If you are new to SDSU, please submit one set of official transcripts from all institutions you have attended to:

Applying to the university and department concurrently: Please note that you are required to submit one set of official transcripts from all institutions attended when applying to the department (see instructions in the single and multiple subject applications linked below).
