STAC Faculty Advisor:

Mission Statement:
The purpose of the San Diego State University Student Advisory Council is to bring together student representatives from the individual credential blocks (cohorts). The council seeks to enhance the experiences of credential candidates through promoting intra- and inter-block communication, voicing candidate concerns, and providing the School of Teacher Education (STE) credential program with feedback from credential candidates. Communication between the council and the STE programs is accomplished by having the Student Advisory Council Advisor and one or more of the council’s Executive Board Members in attendance at meetings involving administrators, team leaders, and/or supervisors. The Student Advisory Council promotes individuals who are confident, competent and caring; and have leadership and mentoring skills, along with high standards of excellence.
Here are some comments from some recent board members of STAC:
"STAC has provided a forum for student teachers to represent their compliments, comments, and concerns to the SDSU School of Teacher Education Faculty. As a student teacher and member of the STAC executive council, I have been fortunate enough to work with some of the most dedicated, passionate, and professional future educators in the credential program at San Diego State University. Based upon the constructive criticism and positive feedback that my colleagues and I have striven to communicate to our outstanding faculty advisor, I am certain that future credential candidates will benefit from the constant efforts of STAC to improve the program and create an atmosphere of support and success. I look forward to my future experiences in STAC, and I challenge all potential or current credential candidates to become actively involved in the growth and professional development that STAC has to offer." ~Brent W.
"STAC was one of the best things I decided to do this semester. I enjoyed the monthly meetings and being able to discuss topics about the program with those other than my own block. I found it interesting to hear single subject credential students and their comments and concerns as well as the multiple subject credential students. I found STAC to be very insightful as well as inspirational to continue in leadership endeavors." ~Rachel K. Executive Board Member, Spring 2007
