We are the largest department in the College of Education.
Credential Programs:
- We prepare approximately 650 students as new teachers through our Credential programs each year.
- Our grads are well prepared to meet the professional goals we value, embodied in the following statement:
We are committed to helping lead the nation in all aspects of teacher education from novice to expert as instructional and curricular leaders, change agents, social justice advocates, and builders of compassionate communities through cutting-edge knowledge, distinguished scholarship, and exemplary practice. The School of Teacher Education is particularly committed to serving Southern California’s and the nation’s increasingly culturally and linguistically diverse student population.
Master's Programs:
- Outstanding graduate programs are designed to promote and support professional learning and development through scholarly reading, study, and exchange of ideas.
- Teachers return to graduate study for advanced work in areas such as curriculum and instruction, literacy, mathematics, science, policy development, leadership and change, educational reform, and research.
