Security officer, Collision repair technician and Math Education

Background

I grew up the son of an Air Force officer and after a rather nomadic lifestyle we settled into Southern California in a town called Victorville. I came to San Diego in 1989 to go to college at S.D.S.U. where I started by studying engineering. In my junior year, I changed to Math Education thinking I could become a teacher when I graduated.

Theres a saying: The more you check the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain. That's what happened to me. When I graduated, I had planned to go into law enforcement and after a few years, go into teaching. I figured by the time I was 35, I would own a majority of my home, have my retirement set up and be married. Here's what really happened.

When I graduated, I had taken a year off to get my bearings set. One year turned into two then into three. During this time I became a collision repair technician to earn side money and a security officer to pay the bills. Finally, about six months ago I decided to get back on track and enrolled at S.D.S.U. to the credential program.

Interests, Activities & Plans

My present professional interests are in the automotive industry. I am planning to start a small mobile autobody business specializing in minor collision repair catering to people who don't have the time to take their cars to a shop, get estimates, get a rental...etc. Much of auto body repair can actually be done in a driveway and there aren't too many people who do it.
