English student teacher, Morse High School, San Diego/ Certified A.V.I.D. tutor, Granite Hills High School, El Cajon
Background
I was born in the east county of San Diego, in La Mesa, on September 4,1975. I resided in El Cajon until I was 18, when I began attending San Diego State University. I attended Granite Hills High School and graduated with honors in 1993. I have one younger sister, 20, and one younger brother, 18.
Interests, Activities, & Plans
My present interests are pretty much anything to do in high school education, which is my teaching career goal (to teach English, to be more specific). I love to read, write, philosophize, and study the Bible. Most of my free time is spent with my friends in the 20 something group at Shadow Mountain Community Church, a Christian Church located in El Cajon. I also enjoy being very active-traveling and going to the gym, teaching, reading, etc. and eventually I plan to get married and have children...Only God knows when though! I also currently work with the junior high children at church every Sunday, and tutor high school kids as an A.V.I.D. tutor at Granite HIlls High School, where I eventually hope to get a job. I especially enjoy working with the high schoolers, because I feel that they are in such an interesting time in their lives, and their careers are just around the corner; I feel that they need extra attention and encouragement so that they may better find their place in the complex world around them. I am extremely motivated to make a difference in their lives, and share my love of life and literature with them.
Other Interesting Things
In high school, I was on the gymnastics team, and was in honors or advanced placement classes (English was my favorite)-which I thoroughly enjoyed (obviously, enough to make a career out of the subject). I am a very organized person, a perfectionist, and enjoy any artwork, enjoy going to the theater, and listening to music. TV definitely only fits into my schedule when I am too tired to do anything else but vegetate. Movies I enjoy as long as they have something more than just surface value entertainment;movies made from literature are usually my favorite.
To me, family is very important, and I am grateful to the Lord for blessing me with such a caring family which I enjoy spending a lot of my time with. My mom works at a middle school, and has always been a great role model for me; my dad is a retired Home Federal asset manager, and currently drives a shuttle bus for extra money. I do not live with my parents, but they are always a source of advice and encouragement for me.
