Student Teacher at Samuel F. B. Morse High School

Background

I was born in Los Angeles, CA, but resided most of my life in the Costa Mesa/ Newport Beach area. Upon high school graduation I moved to San Diego to attend San Diego State Universty. I have been living in San Diego continually since 1990, except for a brief hiatus in 1991 to Newport Beach. I have spent several years working as a legal secretary while completing my Bachelors Degree. I decided to join the field of education in 1996 and have been working wholeheartedly ever since.

My recent experiences have been as a Certified Classroom Teaching Assistant and Certified AVID tutor in the San Diego Unified School District. Also I have been a substitute teacher in San Diego County through San Diego City Schools and the San Diego County Office of Education. Currently I am applying for a full time contract teaching position in either San Diego City Schools, Grossmont Union High School District or Sweetwater Union High School District. I am very anxious to begin my teaching career.

Interests, Activities, & Plans

I am currently completing my Single Subject Teaching Credential to teach English at the secondary level. I will officially graduate on May 23, 1998. I will enter Graduate school this summer, while substituting for the Juvenile Court and Community School System. Eventually I plan on acquiring my Doctorate Degree in Education in the years to come.

As far as home life I have two wonderful siblings Brandie and Dustin. Brandie is concluding her Sophomore year at Sonoma State University and Dustin is an eight grader at Thurston Middle School in Laguna Beach, CA. We plan on spending a lot of time together this summer.

Other Interesting Things

My hobbies include bike riding, visiting with friends, and travelling. I love to spend my free time going to see great new movies, plays, concerts, and the opera.

Favorite Places in Webspace

Recently I have found some great resources on the Web which are helpful regarding teaching. Also I have found a lot fun pages just for entertainment.
