Student Teacher, Physical Education, 6th-8th grade, O'Farrell Community School
Background
I was born in Upland, CA in 1971. I lived in Alta Loma, CA. until I was done with kindergarten. My family then moved up to Lake Arrowhead where I stayed until I moved to San Diego in the fall of 1989 to start school at SDSU. I graduated from SDSU in the Spring of 1994 and went directly to work for an audio/video recording company. That job took me all over the country but it was unrewarding for me. My next two unrewarding jobs were as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and as a sales representative for Kashi, Company.
An opportunity arose for me to be a teacher's aide at Kroc Middle School for the S.T.A.R.S. Program and I jumped at it. This program is designed to help students with learning disabilities achieve success and in most cases, become mainstreamed. I remained with the STARS Program through summer school and now I am in the first semester of student teaching through SDSU.
Interests, Activities, & Plans
My goal is to attain my Single Subject Credential in Physical Education in May of 1998. Currently, I am observing classes at O'Farrell Community School where I expect to be doing some student teaching within a month. I also will attend some committee meetings there so I can see another side of the education field. In the future I hope to be out of the "big city" and teaching Physical Education in a rural setting.
Other Interesting Things
I love Jesus Christ, my wife, family, and friends. I also like staying active by doing things (whether that be playing sports or shopping with my wife---for things other than womens clothing). I will give any sport or activity a try, even if I stink at it (it's activity and I enjoy that!). I used to be a "head-banger" but now I love country music. Lastly, I love airplanes!
