Cell Quest

You have been hired by the Center for Dieses Control (CDC) to investigate the different types of organelles present in Plant and Animal Cells. The company you work for has placed you in teams of 2 to3 depending on your scientific specialty. Upon completion of your teams internet research you will present your findings at the Molecular Cell Biology Conference held at Morse HS in room 404 at a later date.

The Task

To have an effective presentation each team should have the following answered and presented at the convention.

• One page summary about your assigned organelle
• Presentation poster with a cartoon picture and a Scaning Electron Microscope (SEM) picture, obtained from the internet, of your organelle
• What type of cell(s) is your organelle found in?
• The functions of your organelle are?
• Parts of the organelle clearly identitfied and labeled on poster.

The Process

In order for the presentation to be successful you must clearly have all information about the organelle written down on one paper attached to your presentation poster.

Learning Advice

Time is going to be the limiting factor for how well you research your organelle. DO NOT WASTE TIME. If there is a computer not being used send a co-scientist to that computer and do some research.

Conclusion

When finished with this Cell Quest, you will be able to know the structure and function of both plant and animal cell organelles. You will gain experience and improve your presentation skills that are used in every day life.
