A Day in the Life and Times of Shakespeare

You have been chosen to go on a dangerous mission. You are being transported back into the time of William Shakespeare, a time in the mid 1500's where life as you know did not exist. As a visitor to this strange and wonderful time it will be your job to investigate the sort of things that took place at this time, and report your findings to the rest of the class. It is important to find out as much as possible so that you are able to blend in successfully without being detected. Be sure to pay attention to things such as speech and dress. It is your responsibility to gather all of the information you possibly can in order to smooth the way for those who will follow in your footsteps. While you are in Shakespeare's London you should also be sure to take in one of Shakespeare's plays at the Globe Theater. We will look forward to hearing about your adventures in 16th century London.

THINGS TO KNOW....
When you finish this QUEST you will know all you need to know about Shakespeare's London. You will discover everything a person would need to know in order to survive in this time period. You will know how his plays were received by the critics as well as the general public.
During your QUEST you will need to:
* visit a series of websites in order to gather information
* do a write up on what it was like to live in 16th century London
* in your write up include dress, speech, entertainment, etc....
* write a review of one of Shakespeare's plays seen at the Globe Theater
* make sure you stay in character as a spy on a secret mission to another time when you write your paper.
* be sure to point out any interesting facts you may uncover that would help a fellow time traveler to fit into that time period.
* be sure to have fun.

You are now entering the first phase of your QUEST. The first thing you need to do is become familiar with 16th century London. In order to do this you will need to visit a series of websites so that you may get a clear picture of what it was like in this time period.
First you need to find out all you can about 16th century London. In order to do this you need to visit various websites that will give you some insights as to what went on during that time. The first sight you should visit will take you to the City of London. Here you will discover some of the more interesting sites that 16th century London had to offer. The next website has a great map of Tudor London for you to view.
Now you will be on your way to discovering everything you need to know to survive in 16th century London.
First you need to learn about the language used in that time, so you will be able to communicate.
Then you will need to learn about the currency used, so you will not starve on your QUEST.
After learning about money matters you need to find out how to dress. Finding the right costume is very important.
You will then get a little lesson in Noble Style, and Honor.
After all that hard work of learning the necessary things in life, it is time to learn how to play.... Rounders that is or maybe Townball.
By the way you might want to be careful about things such as Plagues and Pestilence, just to be on the safe side.
Now you are ready to move on to the Bard himself. You will be finding out all about Shakespeare's life, from birth to death. Just click on whatever years you wish to explore and go to it.
It is now time to get onto Shakespeare's plays and the Globe Theatre. Don't worry you're almost finished!
First you will need to explore the Globe Theatre and discover how it came to be one of the most famous theatres in the world. Be sure you check out all of the sites for the Globe. It is an awesome Theatre.
Lastly you will discover how Shakespeare's plays were performed at the Globe, so you can write your review.
