The Olympics

A Lesson on Stretching the Human Bounds

Day One

by: Jodie Rader

*-Objectives:

Students will discover the strengths and obstacles of Olympic Athletes.

Students will think critically about the correlation between an Olympic Athlete and themselves.

The Procedure:

This lesson will require the use of computers that have inter net access. Students should be directed to the Olympic Web Quest. This is a self-guided, computer project that students should basically be able to do by themselves. The teacher should take on the role as facilitator at this point helping students gain inter net access, finding the appropriate URL and various other questions or mishaps with the computers. Once the students have begun the task, the teacher should monitor student's progress.

Closure:

When there is 5-10 minutes left of the period, ask students to print the letter they worked on and completed during the Web Quest. This will serve as a form of assessment as to what the students gained or benefited from the project. Also, students will have a hard copy of what they did on the computer that day.
