Interactive multimedia has three major advantages over stand-up lectures. First, it provides a means for each individual to access the instructional or informational material through a sequence most appropriate to their interest and ability. Second, as students choose their way, they are forced to become more active processors of the material rather than passive observers of an instructor. Third, it delivers the material in a variety of formats, such as text, graphics, sound, pictures, and motion. These formats provide information in learning styles appropriate to a diverse public.

Identify a subject area you are familiar with in which you would like to develop instruction or information. The subject should relate to your semester project. Create a flow chart to depict the text, graphics, and the linking between the pages. A well developed flow chart will pay for itself in time saved as you begin developing the stack. Your stack should include at least one card with choices which branch to different locations. Incorporate sound into your stack. The sound should be appropriate to the material being presented and help accentuate the learning. Incorporate graphics into the stack. Graphics can be gathered from clip art, scanned in, or drawn. They should be applicable to the content. |

Two items: 1) your HyperStudio stack turned in electronically to instructor's drop box; and 2) cover materials: your paragraph, short lesson plan, debriefing and thoughts on how to improve project in future. |

The word processed documents should be neat and conceptually clear. The program should be self-explanatory and workable, and include text, sound, graphics, and buttons. The topic of the stack should relate to something usable in your semester placement and be relevant to your audience. Check out the evaluation rubric to be used. |
