Claris Home Page Job Aid

Purpose
To guide you through the creation of your first html document, we use the Instructor Home Page template built in Claris Home Page called "Instr.html."

Before you begin
Install Claris Home Page software on your computer. In case you do not have the software you can download a 30-day trial version from our Resource page.

Steps

  1. Print these directions for easy reference.

  2. Download the "MyCourse" folder from the Resource page link.

  3. Open the Instructor Home Page by double-clicking on the "Instr.html" document in the folder of templates. This will automatically launch Claris Home Page for you.

  4. The "Instr.html" template has directions guiding you through each section of the page. Feel free to cut sections completely, change wording, add sections, change font sizes, etc. The template becomes your first html document as you fill in your information. Be sure to "Save" often as you create your document. You can also rename the "MyCourse" folder now to whatever your course name is.

  5. You will need a digital pict of yourself (you can make a digital picture by scanning a snapshot or using a digital camera). See section 4-2 on adding images in the Home Page manual. Claris Home Page can convert a pict to a gif just by inserting the pict into the Claris Home Page document. One tricky thing Home Page does when adding picts to a page is it automatically puts the gif in the Claris folder unless you set in the preferences otherwise. See Graphics Job Aid and the Adding/Deleting Graphics Job Aid.
