Repetition

  What Does Repetition Do:

According to R. Williams, repetition is a conscious effort and willingness to to unite, join, fuse, the entire page together (print or web based). As work is being done on a project, there is a need to repeat all elements consistently. If there are multiple pages, each page should have a similar look and feel. Repetition should be thought of as "Consistency", consistence and unification of all pages.

Repetition will:

  • Allow for consistency and continuity (especially important with webpage navigation)
  • Unifies all parts of a design and multiple pages
  • Help organize information
  • Help guide the reader through the pages

  Hints for Being Repetitive:

  1. Plan ahead
  2. Keep a formatting journal or log
  3. check and recheck your work looking for consistency and repetitiveness
  4. If web based, storyboard your material first
