The directed internship in Educational Technology offers an opportunity for advanced master's students to use their skills in the "real world," while giving members of the business community access to trained, enthusiastic interns. EDTEC interns possess significant skills in instructional and information design, educational computing, new media and web development, distance learning, performance improvement, and evaluation. Please visit the Department of Educational Technology website for more detailed information about our master's degree and certificate programs.

By the time students qualify for internship opportunities, they've completed several classes and typically worked with at least one community-based client on an instructional problem or performance issue. Thus potential interns have built tutorials, designed websites, carried out extensive needs assessments, conducted evaluatons, or developed games and simulations; as important.

What distinguishes the directed internship from these other experiences is its intent: allowing students to actively participate in day-to-day activities within a professional setting. Our priority is for students -- as much as possible -- to become involved in all aspects of your work, to team with colleagues, and to access your processes and customers.

Educational Technology interns have shared and fine-tuned their skills with clients in a variety of professional organizations. Below are some examples of past and current iinternship placements:
