Details for Week 4
Agenda

Item#

We'll use specific examples in your text to explore two "common" (and well-respected) research designs: historical and causal-comparative.

We'll also examine designs more qualitative in nature, including interpretive and ethnographic. Finally, we'll touch on a common design for classroom educators (whether K-16 or corporate): action research.

Refer to the following Word files for more information. Many of these are contained as links from the PowerPoint presentation above. codeinteraction.doc coding_socialization.doc coding_template_qed.doc codingexample_coded.doc
interviewactivity.doc

researchfun.doc researchfun_coded1.doc researchfuncode2.doc [This activity is for campus use only.]

We'll then examine how these research designs add value to both applied research and evaluation studies!
