A Class-Created Scavenger Hunt

You all know some obscure fact that no one in the class is likely to know off the top of their heads. Let's take advantage of that arcane knowledge as we practice our searching skills.

  1. Working in pairs, come up with a little-known nugget of information that can be communicated as the answer to a simple question. For example: "What recently happened to the former mayor of Waterbury, Connecticut?" or "What is the dominant language spoken on Zanzibar?".

  2. Search the web using the Four Nets for Better Searching and the Specialized Search Engines page and make sure that the answer to your question is findable.

  3. Write your question on the index card provided and hand it in to your instructor. S/he will post the questions for all to see.

  4. When the starting gun is fired, see how many of your classmates' questions you can find the answer to.
