Introduction: The editing room

In better quality Hollywood films, the editing room is as much a creative space as the director's office or the soundstage. Editors often have as much control over the look of a film as do the cinematographer, the art director, and even the director.

In the type of video production we're doing, however—and that you're likely to be involved in as an instructional designer—the editing phase is a bit less elevated. If you prepared your shooting script adequately, and stuck to it during shooting, it will serve more or less intact as the editing script.
