Visualization EPSS -- Questions

Find out what questions audience members have about a procedure, particularly those that might be addressed visually. Remember, procedures may be concrete and visible or mental and invisible. Select the question you'd like to create a visual to answer, then select NEXT.

"The right tool for the right job" is often the most important bit of information one needs to perform a procedure successfully. Visualizing tools and materials will also help learners identify and collect everything they'll need before they attempt the procedure.

Examples: Will this require a torque wrench? What all will I need to upholster this chair?

What tools and/or materials will I need?

A procedure might call for a surgeon to clamp a blood vessel or a math student to "carry the remainder," assuming that they already possess those prerequisite skills.

Examples: Do I need to be able to draw? Do you have to know the relationship between f-stop and shutter speed? Does this assume I'm already familiar with residential real estate basics?

What prerequisite skills and/or knowledge must I have?

This is where people want to see and learn, step-by-step, how they can make or do something--visible or invisible.

Examples: How do you perform a bypass? How do you divide decimal numbers? How do you program a VCR? How do you make a mask?

How do I make or do this?

Visualizing the outcome of a procedure helps motivate learners to succeed and helps them focus their energies on important features of the end product.

Examples: What should the Big Burger look like? Is the result also a decimal number? How will I know if the carburetor adjustment worked?

What does the end result look like?

Learners want to know about risks that may be involved to people, the environment, or an enterprise. Visualizing risks may help them avoid danger or decide whether or not to proceed. Even in a "safe" procedure, they may want to know where they are most likely to run into problems or make errors.

Examples: What do you have to be careful about when you're tanning a hide? What is most likely to go wrong in a bypass operation? Will this affect the water supply?

What are the main problems? Is this dangerous?
