The Internet

As you already know the internet is a tremendous source of information. There is already more information on the net than any of us will ever be able to investigate in our lifetimes and it is getting larger everyday.

One of the most amazing things about the internet though, is the fact that it is constantly changing and being updated. Today you are going to visit some of these sites that are constantly in flux. If you were to visit the same places tomorrow or even a few minutes later the information would be different.

Your Task Today

Because the internet is so easy to update and because so many people now have access to it, the internet has become a fantastic way to get news. Today your job will be to gather news from a number of different sites and then cut and paste the information you find to create your own international newspaper. I have already created a Claris Works template for you to put the stories you find into. (If you can not use the template you will need to open a word processing window for this.)

Below you will find a list of links to different sites on the web that have news stories. You may take the top story from each page, but I suggest you scroll down to find the interesting and unusual stories.

Once you have found a story that you think you want to include:

Make sure you get to the full story. Some pages only display the lead sentence of the top stories. You can always use the BACK button to return to this page.

Don't forget to do fun things. Make sure your paper has more than one column and a title at the top. Remember to show it to a teacher before you print it out.

Click here to get the template you need. The template will appear on your desktop as a ClarisWorks word processing document. Double click on it to open ClarisWorks and load the template. Once you have the template open you are ready to get started.
