Module10: Assessing Your School's Needs

In this section we will come back from the specifics of plans and procedures, and reflect on just why we are doing any of this in the first place? Why are you reading this Web site? Why do we want to get technology into, and used by, schools? Why?

For the students. Ahhhh, we've found our center. Deep breaths everyone, in...out...in...out...chant with me..."it's for the students."

In all the hard work, planning, meetings, presenting, travel, writing, talking, mediating, rewriting, it's very easy to forget about the students. After all, most of the work we're talking about will not bring you in direct contact with students and so it's an "out of sight, out of mind" kind of quandary.

Because of this, in this section we will center thoughts on students by articulating a vision statement in concise terms relating to students. This will be our "mantra" if you will, or if you prefer a more modern comparison, a sound byte -- one or two sentences that you can whip out at a moments notice and rattle off to parents, teachers, community groups, and so on.

Draft your sentence(s) and post it to the course Newsgroup.
