Session #9: Technology Security: Internal and External

The words "computer security" bring to mind passwords, chained up computer stations, or burly officers armed and ready at the side of expensive super computers. Needless to say, this is not exactly what we're talking about - what we are talking is the root of the word, secure, as in safety, as in creating and maintaining a safe environment in which students may use comptuers. While it also includes reducing crime from theft and virus protection, the main focus in this section is child safety.

The goal of this section is to help you get a handle on the issue of security and computers. It is a volitle issue and prone to hype, exploitation, and strong emotions that come with percieved threats to peoples' security. This section is intended to serve as a guide to help you seek, and keep seeking, the truth. Here are the issues we'll cover in this section.
