Course Structure
Because this course requires a significant amount of reading of complex material, a team-based learning approach (Michaelsen, Knight and Fink, 2004) will be used. Before the second week of the class you will assigned to a team of 4-5 members. That team will remain constant across the semester. The job of the team is to ensure that each member understands the material assigned. A significant portion of the final grade for the course will be determined by the team's performance.

Your grade in the course will be determined by your performance of several activities.
20% Self-directed Learning Project
40% Team Projects
20% Individual contribution to team project
