Study: Playing video games not so mindless

Nice article on CNN describing a study conducted at the University of Rochester that showed that video games improve visual acuity and ability to process fast-changing visual objects. Although this finding may be somewhat obvious (and it seems to put a lot of emphasis on gaming's ability to create a good solder;), it's nice to see positive publicity regarding the merits of educational games. Rock-Paper-Scissors-Spock-Lizard

This is an interesting variation on Rock-Paper-Scissors. I remember when my son Alex was young we made up several variations on our own and had a lot of fun both inventing them and playing them. I think I'll use this as an exercise in 670 next semester. [via Boing Boing]
