Commander Aye

a report by Jonathan DeLeon and Minh Tran
at O'Farrell Community School in San Diego, CA.

Commander Aye was King Tut's uncle. He was prime minister and regent. Aye had many jobs. He was a fan bearer, Tut's private secretary, and his private advisor. When King Akhenaten died, his nine-year old brother Tutankamun had to take over. Commander Aye came to help King Tut because he was only 9 years old. He helped Tut until he was 16 years old. Two years later, at the age of 18, Tut died.

Aye became king because Tut had no kids. Tut was going to be buried at the Valley of the Kings, but the rule was that the king's widow had to remarry before the dead king could be buried. So, Ay married Queen Anknesamun. When Akhenaten was king he changed the religion of Egypt to be monotheistic. He made people worship one god who was Aten the Sun God. Aye inspired Tut to changed the religion back to the worship of many gods. When Aye became king he built a temple to worship the gods.
