General Haremhab

a report by Keith Powell and Andre Sias
at O'Farrell Community School in San Diego, CA.

Genral Haremhab was from a small town in middle Egypt. He got his name from the local god Horus. When King Tutankamun turned king, Haremhab was an important official. He had supreme and important duties. Soon he acted like the king's spokesman.

Haremhab was important because when he was an official he was given an order to head a mission into Nubia and Lower Sudan. When Haremhab was a phraroah he tried to help restore the damage done by Akhenaten's rule.

When King Tut died His wife had to get re-married so that he could get burried. A man named Ay married her. His two sons died and his daughter married General Haremhab. Ay made Haremhab his co-regent [a person who helps rule]. When Ay died Haremhab took the throne, he was a phraroah.
