Create an outline

An outline or flowchart will help you determine how you organize your content.

The next step is determine the content and presentation sequence. Create an outline and/or flowchart to help you design your portfolio. Your outline should list the parts (webpages) of your portfolio and the information that will be included for each of those parts. Suggested tools: Inspiration, Microsoft Word, or paper and pencil.

Something to consider: Are you framing your portfolio around standards for teachers or instructional designers? If so, what artifacts might you include to show your achievement of these standards?

Draw a sketch

Drawing a sketch will help you think about the look and feel of your electronic portfolio. What color scheme appeals to you? How will users navigate? Suggested tool: Paper and pencil.

Something to consider: Do you want to incorporate a theme into your portfolio? For instance, is there a saying, metaphor, idea, or image that recurs in your life or sums up who I am as a professional? If so, can you demonstrate your professional talents by illustrating them through this theme? What can you do in your design to reflect this theme?
