Publishing with a BlogWhy a blog? Blogs will create your RSS feed for you. You can have a home on the web with text and information about your show. You can have links for your listeners, and space for them to leave you comments.
1. Begin by going to blogger.com to set up an account. Blogger helps you write and publish your RSS feed. They will host your blog for you, but not the audio files for your show. Hopefully you've already uploaded your file before you start this tutorial. If you haven't, visit the uploading tutorial now. If you know how to use blogger, you can skip to publishing your podcast section.
2. Create an account if you don't have one already. Pick a username, password, display name for your blog, and email address for your listeners to contact you. 3. Give your blog a name. Ideally this would be the same name as your podcast series. Notice that your URL for the show will be http://WhateverYouPick.blogspot.com . (your shows will be stored somewhere else, but this is the website people will visit to get your shows online. FYI- We'll discuss the location of your RSS feed in a little bit. 4. Pick a template. (this is a fun step)
5. Woo Hoo! You're done setting up the blog. Now let's learn how to post. 6. You can write a little overview of your episode. The most important part is the HTML code. This is what you'll use to point your blog to the file you've uploaded on the university's server. Just edit the text below using your show's file name. <a href="http://edweb.sdsu.edu/Courses/EDTEC700/podcast/YOURSHOWNAME.MP3">Download the show.</a>
7. This is what success looks like. 8. Your feed URL will be your blog address/atom.xml If you are having trouble, you can find the feed URL in the settings tab. |
