Students enrolled in the SOCSI 201A: Introduction to SPSS class at San Diego State University. The majority of students enrolled in this class are Sociology or Economics majors and is a required. Students often do not want to take the class, don't know why they are made to take it, and have trouble with the class. SPSS is a software package that allows users to analyze data. Learning SPSS incorporates two areas that many people find terrifying and difficult: statistics and computers. In order to augment this learning process a series of enhanced podcasts that contain audio, image and possibly video files will be created. Each podcast will briefly cover a topic on important statistical concepts and/or how to use SPSS.

Peer to Peer: Montgomery High Peer Mediation Podcast
The targeted audience would initially be the untrained peer mediators at our school; however, I could see it evolving into a regular feature on an established Peer Mediation website, or the centerpiece of a new website on Peer Mediation. Podcasts could also be used as ongoing development of existing mediators, as well as a resource for coaches. We also hope that the district personnel responsible for allocating funding to our programs will listen and see the need to continue funding and support. This will be the pilot for a series of podcasts for high school age peer mediators in training. The podcasts will consist of discussions of topics related to peer mediation, peer counseling, peer education, and general teen concerns. Each edition will also include a simulation of a mediation or counseling session. This first podcast will be produced by the coach as a model for current peer mediators to follow. Future editions will be written, produced, and directed by current peer mediators with guidance from their coach.
