National Advisory Council Member, Linking Academic Scholars to Educational
Resources (LASER) (2001-current). An OSEP-funded project at the University of South
Florida (Brenda Townsend, director) to promote research endeavors by and
grants to "minority universities" nationwide.
Consultant, Tennessee State Department of Education (1983-1984). Ongoing consultation regarding the development of state-funded programs for limited-English proficient (i.e., bilingual-bicultural) children.
Consultant, Harding Academy, Nashville, TN (1982-1983). Consultation on development and validation of a kindergarten and first grade screening/selection program for this private school.
Consultant, Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools, Nashville, TN (1982-1984). ongoing consultation regarding bilingual-bicultural education. Included the development and supervision of a school psychology specialty practicum in bilingual education. Also included research regarding the assessment of language minority children and the adaptation of these children to the school culture.
National Consultant, South Atlantic Bilingual Education Service (SABES) Center, Florida International University, North Miami, FL (1980-1984). Staff consultant available for workshops and consultation on nondiscriminatory assessment and delivery of education services for bilingual children throughout the southern United States. As a consultant for the Center, I have worked in South Carolina.
Consultant, Lansing School District, Lansing, MI (1979-1981). Ongoing consultation regarding provision of special education and pupil personnel services in the Lansing Public Schools. Consultation has varied from content workshops on all aspects of nondiscriminatory assessment in the school district. Consultees have included school psychologists, school social workers, special education consultants, language clinicians, school nurses, and administrators.
National Consultant, Miami Desegregation Center, University of Miami, Miami, FL (1978-1984). Staff consultant available for workshops on nondiscriminatory assessment, especially of bilingual-bicultural children, throughout the southern United States. As a consultant for the Center, I have conducted workshops in the public schools across Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, and for the Tennessee State Department of Education.
National Consultant, Council for Exceptional Children, Reston, VA (1976-1982). Staff consultant and training faculty available for workshops on nondiscriminatory assessment throughout the United States and Canada. As a consultant for CEC, I have conducted workshops in Dallas, TX; San Antonio, TX; Omaha, NE; San Francisco, CA; Toronto, Canada; and for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Gallup, NM.
Consultant, Nondiscriminatory Assessment (Private, 1976-current). Through my private consultation I have developed my five models of nondiscriminatory assessment. I have conducted workshops and consulted with public school systems in New York, NY; Chicago, IL; Nashville, TN; Louisville, KY; Lexington, KY; Omaha, NE; Ingham County, MI; and numerous school districts in Tennessee and California. I have also consulted with Children's Hospital, Chicago, IL and Children's Hospital of Orange County, CA.
