STUDENT STATUS

Student Standing: Unclassified, Conditional, Classified, or Advanced to Candidacy?

It is extremely important that you know your current standing, and the steps to take to advance your standing in the Graduate Division. Rosy Jurasevich, the CSP Department Secretary, can help you with this. Your standing has ramifications for financial assistance as well as attainment of the degree.

Upon admission to the School Psychology Program, you should have conditional classified or classified standing.

· If you are unclassified, you need to initiate paperwork in the Graduate Division IMMEDIATELY.

· If you are conditionally classified, you need to initiate paperwork in the department office. You must present documentation that you have met the conditions of your admission. This documentation (of which you should make copies) will accompany your paperwork. You should make every attempt to meet the conditions of your admission as soon as possible, regardless of any timelines included with your admission letter. (These are maximum timelines which may work for part-time students, but delay by full-time students may interfere with completing requirements for the degree.)

· If you are classified, you need to file your Official Program of Studies by your third semester. You also need to make sure that in addition to the Ed.S. Degree you are on record for pursuing the PPS Credential in School Psychology.

· The student is automatically advanced to candidacy upon Graduate Division approval of the Official Program of Studies. Remember, at least 18 units of the Official Program must be taken after being advanced to candidacy.

See Graduate Division checklist for a more detailed description of the steps you need to take to earn your Ed.S. Degree and credential.
