| Required Elements of the Application |
Candidates who seek admission to the SDSU/CGU Doctoral Program in Education should contact Ceci Necoechea, Program Coordinator ( cnecoech@mail.sdsu.edu or 619-594-6544) for application deadlines. Applications for admission are processed through San Diego State University when the following have been received:
1. An application for admission to the San Diego State University/Claremont Graduate University Doctoral Program in Education.
2. Three academic and/or professional letters of recommendation.
3. A 1000-word personal statement indicating reasons for pursuing doctoral study. The statement should include your reasons for seeking admission to this particular doctoral program, your perceived strengths and weakness in preparation for doctoral study, your research interests, and your relevant academic and employment experiences. The personal statement should be double-spaced and typed.
4. A current copy of your resume listing work experience, education, awards, publications and presentations.

5. Application for Admission to the California State University. This part of the application process should be completed electronically by visiting the following Web site: http://www.csumentor.edu/AdmissionApp/ .
6. Official transcripts from each university or college attended, and including verification of completion of a Master's Degree in Education or a related field. If degree requirements have not yet been met, request an interim transcript citing all work completed to date. A final transcript must be submitted upon degree conferral. Transcripts which are not in English must be accompanied by an official English translation. Request that official transcripts be sent to the following offices:

7. Standardized Test Scores:
- Official Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores that are not more than five years old.
- Official scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) that are not more than two years old. (Note: This is required only of applicants whose native language is not English and who do not hold a degree from a U.S. college or university.)
- Official scores must be forwarded directly from the College Board to San Diego State University (institutional code 4682) and Claremont Graduate University (institutional code 4053).
