Margaret Basom is a professor of Educational Leadership at San Diego State University. She also serves as coordinator of the Joint Ed.D. in Educational Leadership with the University of California at San Diego and the California State University at San Marcos. Prior to SDSU, Dr. Basom chaired the Educational Leadership Department at the University of Wyoming where she also served as facilitator for the Danforth Principal Preparation Program and taught in cohort based masters and doctoral programs. Her present interests include the development of group dynamics, preservice and inservice leadership preparation, ethical dilemmas of school leaders as well as student voice.
Dr. Basom received a BA in Liberal Arts from St. Thomas University in Fredericton New Brunswick, Canada, her MS in Special Education from Southern Connecticut State College in New Haven, Connecticut, and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Adult Education from the University of Wyoming. She is the author of numerous publications and has presented papers at the American Education Research Association, the University Council of Educational Administration and at the International Conference of the American Association of University Administrators. Dr. Basom was a public school teacher and administrator for 14 years before joining the ranks of higher education.
