Joel H. Brown is a researcher/practitioner with more than 15 years experience in mixed methods evaluation research and risk/resilience in educational leadership and related systems. From an interdisciplinary perspective (Education, Psychology, Public Health, Social Welfare), he integrates this research with professional development and training. Prior to joining SDSU, he was tenured and promoted to Professor of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of Oklahoma. Brown also maintains Executive Directorship of the Center for Educational Research and Development (CERD) (www.cerd.org), a not for profit organization committed to the development of resilience-based research, policies and programs. Among others, his work has been cited by the National Academy of Sciences, with commentary being solicited in myriad media outlets, including CNN and the New York Times.
