Prospective Students-Finances

The U.S. Department of Education’s Federal Student Aid programs are the largest source of student aid in America. The programs provide over $100 billion a year in grants, loans, and work/study assistance. Graduate students are eligible for financial aid assistance. The (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or FAFSA, is the first step in the financial aid process. When you use the FAFSA form, you are applying for :

     Cal Grant A and Cal Grant B
     Educational Opportunity Program Grant
     State University Grant

• Federal Work Study (FWS)

Financial Aid FAQs

• How do I apply for Financial Aid? Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov
• When should I apply for Financial Aid? As soon after January 1st as possible for the following academic year.
• Does SDSU have a deadline for applying for financial aid? Submit the FAFSA anytime after January 1, but in time to receive aid before your last day of enrollment for the semester or for the academic year (fall and spring semesters). We recommend that you apply before March.
• What is SDSU’s federal school code? 001151
• Do I have to apply for financial aid every year? Yes. The only way you will receive financial aid is if you reapply every year.
