Eudora Auto Reply

1. Make the auto reply message and save as stationery file:

Open Eudora
Select Message/New Message
Skip ahead to the message area
Type in your auto response message (see sample below)
Select File/Save as…
Give the file a name (e.g., Auto Reply)
Check the Stationery box
Click on Go to Stationery Folder (before saving)
Select the SAVE button
(If your stationery document is still open, close it.
If it asks you to SAVE or DISCARD select DISCARD.)

2. Create a filter for all incoming recipients:

Select Special/Filters (3.0) or Window/Filters (4.0)
See screen below for example (4.0)
Click New to create the filter
Check Incoming under Match if not already selected
Select <<Any Recipient>> at the Header pull-down menu
Choose appears in the pull-down menu below the Header field
Select FILE/SAVE and close the box

All done! Great job!


3. Apply the filter to engage your auto reply message before leaving town:

Select Special/Filters (3.0) or Window/Filters (4.0)
See Filters dialog box with filter names on the left
Highlight the filter <<Any Recipient>> by clicking on it
Pull down the Action menu and select Reply with
Select the stationery, Auto Reply, created in Step 1 above (if there's more than one stationery file)
Choose FILE/SAVE and close the Filters dialog box

4. IMPORTANT: Set Eudora to check mail automatically:

Select Special/Settings
Select Checking Mail from the left (See sample below)
Check the box Check for mail every _____ minutes

Leave your computer on.

That's it! You're all ready to go!
