Welcome to the E-Learning Portfolio

Here you'll find a collection of e-learning and blended learning examples to help you "know quality e-learning when you see it." Our hope is that these diverse examples will help you guide internal projects, evaluate and steer vendor projects, and educate and nudge your customers towards conversations about quality in e-learning.

This e-learning portfolio was developed by Allison Rosett & Associates as part of a recent project for the Internal Revenue Service. Thanks to the generosity of our colleagues at the IRS (Dee Olsen, Linda McBurney, Suzanne Brown, Edie Minche, and others) and the individuals and organizations who contributed their stories to this effort. This web site now provides with you a collection of real-life e-learning challenges, strategies, and lessons learned. You'll admire these efforts and might even wonder about some aspects of them. In all cases, they will make you think and provide grist for conversations about what is possible.
Note: These works and examples in no way represent the opinions of the IRS.

We've listed the examples in the left navigation bar. We've also created an index to direct you to examples that include specific strategies that might interest you.

Each example in the collection contains the following information:

  • Key components. Key instructional strategies or ingredients in the example.
  • The challenge. What problem were they trying to solve? Why did they embark on this e-learning project?
  • The solution. What did they do and why?
  • E-learning strategies. What particular instructional strategies were used?
  • Successful results. What successes have they experienced from this particular e-learning resource?
  • Lessons learned. What lessons were learned?
