Background
I grew up in a small community in Louisiana (Bastrop,LA) and am the youngest of three siblings. At an early age I was a leader and demonstrated excellence in the academic arena. I graduated first in my my HS class and with honors at every other level of education. I have work experience as a counselor, recreation therapist, and educator. I have extensive experience in the area of diversity, alcohol and drug abuse prevention, AIDS education, and disability issues.
Interests, Activities & Plans
My curent professional interests focus on developing a prototype for Diversity Education in rehabilitation. In addition, I am in the process of developing a special interest in rehabilitation in alcohol and drug abuse education. I am involved in education in rehabilitation in the international market and will be teaching a course in
France in 1996. Work is also underway in developing a diversity video for rehabilitation focused on disability and diversity issues.
Other Interesting Things
I collect turtles (not real ones) and have an extensive collection. I enjoy music, dance, plays, swimming, walking, and time to relax while reading non-academic stuff. Travel is a joy (most of the time) and I enjoy Mexico and Europe. Switzerland is my favorite place other than CA, of course. In Wisconsin, I loved to watch the snow (not move around in it, just watch).
