All his life Charles Darwin liked to collect rocks, insects, and plants.

After Charles Darwin went to college, he went on the H.M.S. Beagle for the Royal Navy.

It took four years to get to the Galapagos Islands. At the Galapagos Islands he saw: tortoises, finches, mockingbirds, and flowers. They were different on each island!

After the voyage, he worked on organizing his stuff and he got married. In 1840 he moved to Down House.

In 1859 he wrote the book that shook the world, the name of the book is On the Origin of Species . It did not go with the ideas of the Bible.

In the 1870's he wrote a book about worms. He died in 1882.
